Trade and Economic Cooperation |

The process of modernization
and infrastructure building initiated in India and geographical
location of Poland, its integration with EU, proximity
to East European markets of Russia, Ukraine, Bielarus
and attractive facilities for investment could be tapped
for mutual benefits by the business community in both
countries.
According to the Polish statistical office the trade turnover
between the two countries in the 2005 year crossed 568
Million US Dollars. Polish exports to India have reached
200 Million US Dollars and India's exports to Poland are
about to reach 368 Million US Dollars. India is one of
the most important trading partners for Poland in the
developing world.
There is a high possibility of its further increase in
the coming years.
The structure of Polish export is dominated by products
of electric machinery industry and transport equipment
together with chemical industry products and pharmaceuticals
taking a share of 90% of the total export.
India’s export to Poland comprises mainly of food
and agriculture products i.e. tea, coffee, pepper, seeds
of oil plants and rice in the first group and textile
yarn and fabrics in the second group. India has also entered
into the Polish market by exporting special purpose vehicles,
medicaments and pharmaceuticals as well as IT software.
Poland has technology and expertise which can be of immense
benefit to India. Moreover, Polish know-how and equipment
has been tried and tested in India. |

| Poland offers opportunity
in industrial and commercial co-operation in any field
but there are areas in which our Central European country
gained the highest expertise. The main fields of possible

plants, including generators, turbines, boilers,
transmission grid construction, electrification
of towns and villages, deliveries of electric motors,
lamps, energetic cables and other machinery and
equipment, including the construction of small diesel

modernization and electrification of railways,
deliveries of railway wagons, tenders, cisterns,
lorries, railway locomotives, wheels, wheel sets,
machinery for track construction and maintenance, |

and modernization of ports and ship-repair yards,
machinery and equipment for shipbuilding industry,
deliveries of ships, floating docks, ship engines
and fishing vessels, |

various projects in infrastructure and transport,
including housing, construction of roads and bridges,
machinery and equipment for building materials industry,
deliveries of construction and road-building machinery, |

machinery and equipment for food industry, including
flour mills, fish mill factories, construction of
sugar plants, food processing equipment, |

metallurgical industry, including the construction
of cast-iron foundries, foundries for special steel, |

know-how and technologies for production of various
